JUST KIDS
My garden trees
Are set alight during witching hour
*
Kids dance around them
Revelling in the fire’s power
*
Luckily the fire didn't spread
As firemen hosed the fire dead
*
The car lock
On my passenger side
*
Is now jammed
After being rammed
*
Luckily I can still get inside
The driver's side
*
My house windows
Have been punctured
*
With an airgun
Just for fun
*
Luckily the punctures
Didn't break through
*
Or there could have been
A break in too
*
The main petrol pipe
Of my car
*
Has been cut
For a petrol swipe
*
Luckily my car will be still there tomorrow
For without petrol it won't go
*
Although they might still torch it
Just for the fire show
Notes on poem title : the yobs I am referring to were in fact usually in their teens and late teens.
